Gettysburg

On the road again Saturday Oct. 16 by motor coach to Gettysburg, PA. As we traveled the Gettysburg town and countryside, our tour guide gave a very informative explanation of the time leading up to the battles near Gettysburg.

Then he gave in depth explanations of the battles on July 1st, 2nd and 3rd. He gave facts and then encouraged us to explain why the South retreated from Gettysburg. He also explained that Lincoln was not the main speaker when they dedicated the battlefields in Nov. 1863. But Lincoln's speech is the memorable. Every year the battlefields are rededicated.

After lunch we went to see a narrated show and diaorama of the battles. It was a remarkably touching day. Back at our campgrounds some of the RV'ers met around a campfire. Great to get to know our fellow travelers on this tour of DC.
