Day 52, 53 and 54 of our trip to FL and SE

On the Road Again Friday March 18. We have seen a lot of bee hives boxes as we travel through the backroads of LA. and along the levee.

We have also seen lots of thistles. Bet the bees love their blooms.

When we arrived in Lake Charles, LA. it was beauty/handsome day....Ellie got a haircut and color and Phil a haircut. Then we went to a self service truck wash center and washed our Roadtrek. She looks great again. We have washed her twice since we've been on the road. But on Thursday we traveled on 18 miles of gravel roads. Our Roadtrek had quite a coating of dust! She looks so much better now. We made another stop for milk, bread and a few other groceries. Just as we got parked at our site at Sam Houston Jones State Park our friends, Jo and Otto arrived. They are college friends from WAY back when. Because seeing them became a destination we traveled through and are learning so much about Louisiana. We went to Pappy's for fried catfish. The food was great but even better was seeing and visiting with Jo and Otto whom we haven't seen for years.

On the Road Again Saturday March 20, but first it was clean the inside of the RV plus we hiked and biked around the park.

Saw a deer on our bike ride.

Cypress trees and swamps are becoming common in our daily experiences. In the afternoon we went to Jo and Otto's. Dennis and Jean were already there. They also are college friends. We had fun catching up with each other and reminiscing about our days at Central State College, which became Wisconsin State College-Stevens Point which became Wisconsin State University--Stevens Point and currently is University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

On the Road Again Sunday March 21 to Mass at St. Theodore's. The message today was about prayer. Two parishioners gave short talks about their prayer lives. A very good service. Then Ellie made a cranberry, feta cheese, walnut, lettuce salad for our picnic with Jo, Otto, Dennis and Jean. We had a wonderful Sunday afternoon picnic at the park where we are camping. It is Jo and Otto's favorite park and we can see why. The weather was glorious, sunny, breezy and about 80 but we were in the shade by the river. Is it spring or summer, we keep asking ourselves.

Again a great day with our college buddies.
