Traveling around Lake Michigan: Day 6, June 15, 2011

On the Road Again Wednesday June 15.  It was a rough night.  Every trip has it's unusual event.  Hope we never experience this again.

About midnight we discovered we had lots of mosquitos in our RV.  We slept with the covers over our head.  We kept the ceiling fan going and hoped most would be sucked out the fan.  We were up at 6 am,  sprayed the RV with mosquito bug killer and vacuumed the dead ones.  As we drove we kept swatting at those that survived.

Amazing thing is the evening before we played our card game at the picnic table and weren't bothered by mosquitos.

Remember the limestone beach...this is the beach about 60 miles to the East.

We climbed the steps of Castle Rock near St. Ignace.  It is considered to be one of the oldest lookout points with views of  Mackinac Island, Lake Huron, downtown St. Ignace, and wildlife habitat.  Castle Rock rises an astonishing 195 feet above water level.

We visited Marquette Mission Park and the Museum of Ojibwa Culture.

We crossed the Mackinac Bridge and traveled the Tunnel of Trees, out of Cross Village.  The trees are right next to the windy narrow road.    http://www.examiner.com/tourism-in-grand-rapids/touring-michigan-s-tunnel-of-trees
We camped at Petoskey State Park, got out for a bike ride and had a very peaceful night of sleep.
