On the road again Sunday May 19, 2013

To Mass at Holy Family Church. The Pastor was warmly welcomed home. He talked about his studies at Chicago Theological Seminary. It was interesting to hear his comments about Chicago's cold weather. He also talked about the many nations represented at the Seminary. This tied in with the Mass readings of the day, the many people who could understand the apostles on Pentecost.

First Christian Church next to Holy Family Parish was built in 1890. Beautiful stonework.

We toured the 9 buildings associated with the boyhood town of Samuel Clemens.
The name Mark Twain refers to water depth measurement, two fathoms deep, a safe depth for steamships.  Samuel Clemens worked on steamships for a time.
His boyhood home.

Home of his boyhood friend, Tom Blankenship who he fashioned Huckleberry Finn after.
Home of Becky Thatcher.
