Day 31, 32 and 33 of our trip to FL

On the Road Again Friday Feb. 25 to the laundromat. Then heading to Phil's cousin's, Jeff Hartz. Jeff met us near I-95 so we could follow him to his home outside of Bunnell, FL. We passed vegetable fields. Crops raised on a year round basis are potatoes, cabbage and sorghum. It was interesting to watch the potatoes grow across the road from Jeff's home. (80 degrees and sunshine.) We saw trucks carrying loads of cabbage.

We received a warm welcome from Jeff's wife, Carol and Carol's daughter, Sarah. The five of us went out to Martin's, a local restaurant. The visiting was great and the food was delicious. We continued to visit back at Jeff and Carol's home.

Saturday, Feb. 26 Jeff and Carol took us to St. Augustine. We took the tour train around St. Augustine, marveled at the architecture of the old churches, hotels and homes.

Trolley we road.

We walked St. George Street and had lunch at Mi Casa.

Carol and Jeff.
Phil had another grouper sandwich. Ellie had a Rueben. Carol said that's what they are famous for. We also had a glass of Sangria.

Spanish influence homes.

Buildings made of coquina, rocks of compacted seashells.

We stopped on the way to their home for steaks and Sangria fixings. Another great evening of visiting with family and the Sangria went down easy.

Sunday Feb. 27 Jeff took us to Mass at St Brendan's in Ormond Beach. It was the Parish's 50th anniversary.

The main celebrant was the priest who was the first Pastor. He was a very enthusiastic person. The music was unbelievable. The choir was very powerful and it was backed by a trio of harp, violin and cello. Near the end of the Mass they sang a rendition of Danny Boy. It was so moving. We left church in awe of the dynamic experience we had a privilege to be at!!!!

Beautiful statues by the side altar.

We had lunch with Jeff and Carol at Lulu's in sight of Jeff's office in Ormond Beach. Phil had another grouper sandwich and Ellie had a steak flatbread. The four of us had desserts. Yummy.

We traveled along the very scenic A1A seeing the Atlantic Ocean, interesting old homes, beautiful live oaks, Spanish Moss and so much more. We stopped at a park to marvel at a huge live oak.

The leaves and acorns are so much smaller than what we see in the Midwest. But the trees are HUGE. So impressive. Carol and Ellie watched some of the Academy Awards. It was good to see the sights with and enjoy times with Jeff, Phil's cousin and his wife, Carol. Also Sarah (Carol's daughter). Oh, can not forget their dog, Boomer.
