Tucumcari & Albuquerque, NM 10/3/13

On the road again Thursday Oct. 3.

We went to McDonalds in Tucumcari for coffee.

On our travels we've seen amazing artwork at McDonald's.

Phil joined the local guys for coffee. One of the guys told us to drive through town and see the murals.

Before Route 66 was built (1937) the distance across New Mexico was 506 miles. After the completion of Route 66 (1937) the distance was 399 miles. Route 66 stretched 2,448 miles from Chicago to Los Angelo's.

He also told us to be sure to see the legendary Blue Swallow Motel.

Guests could use the garage attached to their room.

The garages have artful murals.

Another mural on the way out of Tucumcari.

We arrived at RV Balloon View Park about noon. We met up with our RV friends who we traveled in Newfoundland last year. Tom and Linda from Miami, FL area and Denny and Sharon from Savannah, GA. We met up with both couples in their home states in Feb. We had a great time catching up again. We will be dry camping the next three nights so emptied our tanks and filled with fresh water before going to bed. The wind howled during the night. Ominous!!!!
