Canada, O'Leary and Cape North, P. E. I., 8/7/12

Canada, O'Leary and Cape North, P. E. I., 8/7/12: On the Road Again Tuesday Aug. 7

Museum photo showing the beauty of the farmland of Prince Edward Island

Some horse racing practice near O'Leary.

Canadian Potato Museum in O'Leary. They had a very informative video about the potato industry in Prince Edward Island. Potatoes are a major crop on this island.

They grow seed potatoes from leaves.

Cultivate them.

Then grow them in greenhouse. It was a very interesting museum. Did you know 2 potatoes a day kept the Spaniards from getting scurvy.

They used tractors with metal wheels until the mid 1900's.

In the local museum they had something that may look familiar to others my age!!!! Wow,what fun we had playing with this dollhouse when we were kids. What a delight to see again.

This Little Red Schoolhouse's last class was held in 1972.

Just a stop along the way. Looking out to the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

Beautiful red sand beaches.

Lobster boats eager for the opening of the season. Lobster traps with buoys ready to go.

Cape North

We visited with Denny and Sharon from Georgia. They are fellow Roadtrekks on the walkabout. We are staying at Walmart in Summerside and they journeyed on. We will meet up with them again tomorrow.

Whay a beautiful place this is!!!!
