Texas, 2/5

On the Road Again Sunday Feb. 5. Happy Birthday to Gigi, Phil's sister. Best wishes for many more years of love, good health and Packer wins.

It rained all night about 3 inches. Rather windy too. We had read in reviews about this campground that the showers were cold water. A camper told Phil, nah, they aren't cold. We say....they were cold. It was refreshing!!!! And temperature in the morning was 45. Invigorating.
We went to Mass at St. Joseph in Port Aransas.

We took the ferry across Corpus Christi Bay. The guy directing the vehicles on and off the ferry is a testament to the cool and windy temperatures.

We journeyed to the Aransas Wildlife Refuge. On the lawn were lots of turkeys.

American coot???

It was exciting to see 4 whooping cranes. The Rangers told us there are only 224 whooping cranes that travel between Canada and Texas. Usually only one baby crane survives. She said there are twins for the first time this year. Since there are four cranes traveling together that means we got to see the twins with Mom and Dad.

Also saw a blue heron.

A Texas alligator.

Texas bird!

Egret

471 year old live oak tree.

Another 400 year old tree.

Reddish egret????

And saw lots of turkey vultures.

We camped at Rustic Cove RV Park, Rockport.

Location:Padre Island Seashore to Aransas Wildlife Refuge
