Texas, 2/6/12

On the Road Again Monday Feb. 6 to Corpus Christi Bay to tour the USS Lexington Museum.

Wow, what a ship. The ship was an aircraft carrier used during WW II.

Blue Angel airplane greets us outside the Museum. The following planes are on the flight deck.

Cobra Helicopter

Mentor

Buckeye

Trojan

Skyhawk

Intruder

Hornet

Tomcat

Yellow Peril

Watched a 30 minute film about the capture of the U-505 German submarine.

Also watched a 45 minute IMAX film of pilots in training. Very captivating. It is Fighter Pilot, Operation Red Flag. http://usslexington.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=291&Itemid=291

Command Center on the ship

Toured all levels of the ship....up and down steps.

Sick Bay. They had lots of rooms for dentists to work. Crew of 1550.

Think of my sister who is a surgical nurse.

Chapel.

We spent over 3 1/2 hours there. It was interesting to see in the early years film of the planes landing on the ship. Some planes didn't survive but no lives were lost due to airplane crashes on landing.

What an interesting day!

We camped at Goliad State Park.

Location:Corpus Christi
