Barstow & Victorville, CA 1/11 & 12/2015

On the road again Sunday Jan. 11.  Here we are in the desert and it's raining.  The locals are so relieved and happy.  They get 10 inches of rain a year.

WELL, it's a problem for us!!!!!  The windshield that was replaced on Dec. 31 is leaking.  We sopped and did what we could then went to Chili's to watch the Packer - Dallas game.  Whew.  Thank goodness we won.  Then we went back to the laundromat to put the soaking wet towels in the dryer.
Route 66 Museum
Lots of memorabilia

Route 66 starts in Chicago
It went through 8 states.
Harvey Houses were along the way to accommodate the travelers.

 1915 Model T Ford
We were encouraged to have our picture taken sitting on a tri-motorcycle.
We have traveled portions of Route 66.

On the road again Monday Jan. 12
Phil contacted the insurance company about our leaky windshield.  We were directed to Victorville for the repair.  It was very foggy when we were first up.  As we are driving it's part foggy and part sunny.
Now the fog is starting to lift.  While they are fixing the windshield we were able to watch sports and get our packer buzz.
Traveling I-40 to the Mojave National Preserve.
Not the same landscape as Montana but wide open sky, like there.
We learned at the Visitors Center there is one rancher still working on the Preserve.  We watched a video about the Preserve and got our hiking info for tomorrow
Another quiet campground.  Talked with a couple from Flagstaff.  We'll sleep good again tonight.
