Joshua Tree & Indio, 1/17/2015

On the road again Saturday Jan. 17.
Our campsite at the Cottonwood Spring Campground of Joshua Tree National Park.

We stopped at the Visitors Center and did one last hike, the Bajada Nature Trail.  Once again the desert plants are labeled and Im able to name most of them.

On I-10 we have Internet access again.   While in the Mojave Preserve we could squeeze out very little connection.  When in Joshua Tree there was none.  So we caught up on emails and found out when the Packer - Seahawks game would be.
After watching a video about Shields Date Company, Indio, CA we had lunch in their cafe. I had sandwich spilling over with shrimp and Phil had a Texas burger.  These date palm trees have ladders permanently attached.  Labor intensive work is needed to pollinate the date blooms.
We did The Walk of the Date Shields Garden.  There were 14 episodes of Jesus.
 Jesus in the Temple
Baptism of Jesus
 Jesus in the Wilderness
 Jesus calling the Disciples.
 jesus with the Children
 Jesus Hels the Sick
jesus with the Woman at the Well
 Jesus on Palm Sunday
 The Last Supper
Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane
 The Crucifixion
 The Tomb
 The Resurrection
Jesus on the Road to Emmaus.

Journeying through the Garden was very touching.   We got a date milk shake for the road.  It was very good.

We stayed at Flying J in Thousand Palms.
